YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Last summer Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw put their ocean front mini compound on Malibu's quickly disappearing Broad Beach up for lease at $125,000 per month. We don't know if there were any takers at that price but this summer, it seems, the Hollywood aristocrats are feeling a mite more optimistic and have put the fully shingled, semi-Craftsman style mansion on a generous double lot up for least at a significantly higher $150,000 per month.
The seven bedroom and nine bathroom main house and a semi-detached two bedroom guest house wrap around a central courtyard with swimming pool and attached spa. The upper level master suite, in addition to luxurious facilities and direct access to the ocean view deck, has a private library and massage room that overlooks the ocean. Somewhere, as to be expected for a Tinseltower of Mister Spielberg's success and financial means, there's a state-of-the-art movie theater.

Broad Beach has long suffered from a serious erosion problem—the result being a long rock revetment, installed at the homeowners' expense, that' intended to keep the pounding surf out of their backyards and living rooms. Mister Spielberg and Miz Capshaw's primary residence is a 5+ acre hillside compound in the upper section of the ritzy Riviera area of Pacific Palisades. They also own a substantial equestrian facility in Mandeville Canyon just below Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's estate. On the east coast they own a Gwathmey Siegel-designed co-op at the dignified San Remo bulding on Central Park West. Out in the Hamptons they own a Gwathmey Siegel designed compound on Georgica Pond in East Hampon that's just a few doors down the nearly six acre pond-frond spread education oriented philanthropist Courtney Sale Ross is (allegedly) in contract to sell to billionaire trophy property collector David Geffen for a price this property gossip has been told is just above $50 million.
