YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Soon after democratic governor Andrew Cuomo told some political reporter or another that extreme, right-wing conservatives have no place in the state of New York arch-conservative radio and t.v. political pundit Sean Hannity publicly stated he planned to vacate the state and, true to his word, it looks as if he might actually put that pedal to the metal and has hoisted one of his two traditional family-friendly estates on Long Island on the open market with an asking price of $3.6 million.*
Property records show Mister Hannity and his long-time missus Jill—who, since 2008, have lived in a larger and much more expensive mansion in nearby Centre Island—purchased the gated 2.05 acre spread in Lloyd Neck back in July 2003 for $3,450,000. According to listing details and the Suffolk County Tax Man their annual property taxes are $56,989, a lot of money certainly but a pittance to a man who, back in 2012, reportedly rakes in somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 million per year.
Listing details describe the two-story 4,824 square foot residence as a "Brick Colonial" that was built in 2001 with four bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, six fireplaces, and a basement level three-car garage. Listing photographs reveal a massive, marble-floored double-height foyer and arched windows, a marble-floored great room with wet bar and head on water views, a wood-floored formal dining rooms (with Chippendale-esque furnishings and funeral parlor-style drapery), and a wood-floored den (barely furnished with an olive drab velveteen sectional sofa).
The kitchen is certainly upgraded with upper-end stainless steel appliances but it's also perfectly ordinary in an upper middle class way with marble tile floors, ubiquitous high-gloss black granite counter tops, and no doubt custom but painfully ho-hum antique white raised panel cabinetry. At least a couple of the upstairs bedrooms—including the master suite, open to a deck that overlooks the gunite swimming pool and harbor.
